How to Install Plugins on Your Server
Bukkit, Spigot, and Paper plugins, installed and loaded the right way.
Introduction
Plugins are the easiest way to add features without touching Java code. They work on Bukkit, Spigot, and Paper servers, not on Vanilla and not on Forge/Fabric.
Switch to a Plugin-Compatible JAR
- 1Open the panel ā Settings ā Server Type
- 2Pick Paper (recommended) and your Minecraft version
- 3Click Save and restart the server
Paper is faster than Spigot and bug-compatible with most plugins.
Install a Plugin
- 1Download the plugin
.jarfile from SpigotMC or Modrinth - 2In the panel, open the File Manager
- 3Navigate into the
/pluginsfolder - 4Click Upload and drop the
.jarfile - 5Go back to the Console tab and restart the server
- 6Check the log for
[PluginName] Enabled, that confirms it loaded
Configuring a Plugin
- Most plugins create a folder inside
/pluginson first run - Open that folder ā edit
config.ymlwith the panel's text editor - Save ā restart, or run
/reload confirmif the plugin supports it
Tip: Always download plugins matching your exact Minecraft version. A 1.20 plugin will crash a 1.21 server.
Warning: Don't install random .jar files from sketchy websites. Stick to Modrinth, SpigotMC, and Hangar.
